Caring From The Beginning

Just as the needs of infants are different than those of teenagers, animal babies need different care than their older counterparts. Because of their size, they are much more susceptible to dehydration and other ailments. These conditions, which in older animals can cause discomfort, in young animals can actually cause death.

Every Patient, Every Time

At Billings Animal Family Hospital, we welcome breeders as clients and can provide complete care for your newborns. We recommend exams for puppies and kittens as well as their mothers within the first 48 hours after birth. This allows us the opportunity to evaluate them for potentially serious health concerns as well as discuss future exams, vaccines and deworming.

Once puppies and kittens reach 6-8 weeks of age we should start their vaccination series. At these early visits we also discuss spaying and neutering, microchips, diet, behavior, housetraining, leukemia and heartworms, and our puppy socialization classes. We are happy to spend extra time with you to ensure you have a healthy and well-rounded pet that will provide years of companionship.
