and Commitment
Billings Animal Family Hospital is a place where your pet’s health is our priority and every visit feels like coming home to family.
Growing up on a cattle farm in Rock Springs, Montana, Dr. Edie Best is no stranger to hard work and animal care. She enjoyed a quaint and peaceful environment, surrounded by a variety of animals. Every day, Dr. Best would observe her father and mixed-animal practitioners taking care of horses, dogs, cats, and cows. This daily scenario sparked her deep love for animals, which later manifested in her competing in rodeos and horse shows until high school.
Dr. Best’s passion for animals grew, leading her to pursue a pre-vet program at Montana State University in Bozeman. She graduated from the program with flying colors. Soon after, she faced a major setback—being rejected from vet school on her first try. Instead of backing down, Dr. Best took a job at a small animal practice, gaining invaluable experience that strengthened her application and shaped her career path. That year, she realized her genuine passion lay in small animal care, rather than the mixed-animal work she had once admired.
In 1991, Dr. Best reapplied to vet school and got accepted into Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
In 1995, Dr. Best graduated with honors, earning her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She returned to Montana to begin her career, working for two years before joining another practice in Billings, where she spent 11 years honing her skills.
Since then, Dr. Best has continued pursuing excellence in veterinary medicine. She not only enhanced her knowledge but also refined her method of healing.
2003: Achieved ABVP (American Board of Veterinary Practitioners) Certification in Canine and Feline Medicine and Surgery.
2008: Purchased Billings Animal Family Hospital.
2013: Recertified her ABVP Certification.
2024: Recertified her ABVP Certification for the second time.
Today, Dr. Edie Best has taken on her biggest commitment — creating a state-of-the-art facility that will be the gold standard for animal care. Imagine a place where expert care meets genuine affection—where every visit is more than a check-up. Your beloved pet deserves the BEST care and we at Billings Animal Family Hospital are here to make that happen.
At Billings Animal Family Hospital, your pet’s health and happiness are at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is to create a welcoming environment where expert care meets genuine affection—transforming every visit into an opportunity to show how much we care.

A real-life animal whisperer! She has a knack for taming and treating the most exotic pets and the feistiest felines with finesse. Beyond her love for exotic pets and cats, Dr. Bruggeman is known for her enthusiastic and optimistic attitude. A bone-afide prodigy on understanding canine behavior. She works her magic to heal your baby and turn their ruff day into a paw-sitive experience. She also has a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University.
Drawn to the welcoming and supportive atmosphere of Billings Animal Family Hospital, she became the resident expert for canine behavior with the innate ability to sense their body language. She makes pets feel safe and at ease during every visit.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Musselman enjoys a cozy campfire, hiking with her dogs, backpacking, and hunting.

“I am from out of state and am staying in a hotel. I woke a sick pup. Billings Animal Family Hospital got him an appointment first thing this morning. Every person I talked to was friendly, kind, considerate! Such a great vet experience. Thank you, staff, for all that you did for me and my little guy.”
“Billings Animal Family Hospital has been so good to our family. They have walked us through joy and great sorrow with compassion and genuine care. Dr Mussleman's chiropractic techniques have been a huge blessing, especially for our medical alert service dog. We highly recommend the quality care at Billings Animal Family Hospital.”
“Recommended to me by a friend, I found the Billings Animal Family Hospital to be professional, helpful, courteous, and easy to work with. They get my high recommendation.”
“The only place in Billings I'll take my pups. Dr. Best, Dr. Bruggeman, and the rest of the staff are truly the best and really do care.”
“From the front desk to all the vets, I am very impressed. Every time I call or come in with my dog Sawyer I feel that my concerns are always their priority. If one thing doesn't work they offer another option. For example, my dog has been dealing with a lot of anxiety at night, and they didn't just dismiss it. They took it with seriousness and genuinely wanted her to feel less stressed.
Dr. Best offered an array of options to try such as a diffuser, supplements, a special calming dog music playlist, and some medication. I liked how she took a very holistic approach and didn't just throw medicine at her. I just went in again and was concerned about fireworks season the vet gave me several options for my doggie and I feel at ease knowing I will figure something that works for my dog before the Fourth of July. I am always impressed with how they care for Sawyer and deal with all my questions. Also, their prices are very fair, especially with prices of everything these days.”
